• Mandate under the RTI Act: The RTI Act, 2005, requires public authorities (including medical colleges) to designate Public Information Officers (PIOs) and establish an RTI Cell to coordinate requests and appeals.
• Structure: Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, Barpeta compose of a PIO and SPIO in the institutional RTI Cell to streamline applications, first appeals, and routing to the appropriate officers. This avoids confusion for applicants and ensures compliance with statutory timelines.

2. Key Functions of the RTI Cell
