RBSK
Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK)
Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) in Barpeta, government health services extend beyond routine clinical care to include national public health initiatives such as the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK).

RBSK – Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram
- RBSK is a government program under the National Health Mission that aims to screen all children from birth to 18 years for health conditions grouped under the “4 Ds”: defects at birth, deficiencies, diseases, and developmental delays (including disabilities).
-
- The program focuses on early detection and timely intervention to reduce long-term disabilities and improve child health outcomes.
DEIC – District Early Intervention Centre
- • A key element of RBSK is the establishment of DEICs, which are specially designed hubs at the district level.
- These centres primarily target children up to six years of age by offering comprehensive evaluation and intervention services—ranging from medical treatment and therapy to counseling and nutritional support—for those found to have developmental delays or disabilities.
At FAAMCH, Barpeta
- As a government medical college with a 500-bed hospital, FAAMCH plays an important role in community health by contributing to the RBSK initiative.
- Medical officers and other healthcare staff are often involved in screening children as part of RBSK activities. They are trained to identify nutritional deficiencies, congenital anomalies, and early signs of developmental delays.
- In line with the RBSK guidelines issued by the National Health Mission in Assam, FAAMCH may also facilitate or participate in training programs that orient medical personnel to the protocols and procedures of both RBSK and the DEIC model.
