The Department of Biochemistry is actively engaged in teaching,laboratory services,training and research.Our first batch MBBS students were enrolled with 100 students in the year 2012 which was subsequently increased to 125.We are also involved in teaching and training of DMLT students.Biochemistry Post-Graduate teaching permission was also granted in the year January,2019.Our first batch of post-graduate student has passed-out in the year 2023.

Vision:

The department has vision to do research in inherited diseases and cancers prevalent in this area.The department also wants to conduct newborn screening program in future.

Services: The department of Biochemistry run Central Clinical Laboratory carrying out various Biochemical tests.At present,on an average 400 patient samples are run in Biochemistry laboratory per day.In addition to routine biochemical tests,we are also doing special tests such as Total and free thyroid hormones,Prolactin,Beta HCG,Procalcitonin,Cardiac markers,Vitamin D,Vitamin B12,Ferritin,TIBC,NTpro BNP,Urine microalbumin,ADA,Phosphorus,ammonia.We are also doing biochemical analysis of urine and other body fluids such as CSF,pleural and peritoneal fluid etc. Barcoding system was introduced in our laboratory in May 2023 which has revolutionized our sample processing and report delivery system decreasing the turnaround time.

We are regularly performing daily quality control tests for different parameters.Our lab has also been participating in Biorad monthly External Quality Assurance Services(EQAS) program since 2023.
