About

Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, the 5th medical college of Assam was established in 2011. It has well equipped p department along with other departments. Since its inception, it has become a leading centre for paediatric care in Lower Assam. It also serves as the main referral centre for paediatric patients in entire Lower assam. The Department of paediatrics is situated in the second floor of Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College. The present status of the department is as follows:

Courses:

• UG (MBBS): 125 students per year
• PG (MD): 3 students per year

Clinical strengths:

• 60 bed in general paediatric ward (2 units)
• 5 bed in PICU
• 23 bed in NICU (seperate inborn and outborn unit)

Special clinics:

• Daily: well baby clinic
• Weekly: hematology, renal clinic, cardiology clinic, neurology clinic, asthma clinic, high risk clinic.

Academic activity:

• UG: theory and practical classes, seminars and case presentations
• PG: theory classes, seminars, newborn case presentation, paediatric case presentation, journal club, mortality review, thesis review.
• Research and publications at national and international level

Extracurricular activities

• Health camp
• Awareness program for various public health program

Treatment

• From primary to tertiary care of sick children.
• Round the clock trained nursing and support staff.
