The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology was established in 2011 along with Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College & Hospital, Barpeta, with an undergraduate course. The Postgraduate course was introduced in 2019. The department comprises two units, headed by one professor & two associate professors. The present intake of PG students is 7 (MS).

Currently, the department has an annual delivery rate of 10,624 and operates both regular services & research activities in collaboration with Oxford University (MaatHRI project). Additionally, it serves as a recognized training center for BEMOC & PPIUCD under the Government of Assam.

Vision

The department aims to introduce a complete range of gynecological endoscopic surgeries while enhancing high-risk obstetric care for complicated obstetric cases.
