The department of Ophthalmology is the well-established branch in Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College catering to high caliber level of academic programs and state of art, management of patients. It is a vital department in medical education, patient care, and research, providing comprehensive ophthalmic training and services.

Objectives:

1. Education and Training:

  • Trains MBBS students in clinical examination techniques, surgical skills, and the management of eye diseases.
  • Provides exposure to advanced diagnostic tools and technologies for eye care.

2. Clinical Services:

  • Manages a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, refractive errors, retinal disorders, and corneal diseases.
  • Conducts both major and minor Eye surgeries.
  • Operates outpatient clinics, emergency eye care units, and vision screening camps.

3. Research:

  • Engages in research on various ophthalmological conditions like diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and pediatric eye disorders.
  • Develops and evaluates innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

4. Community Outreach:

  • Organizes eye camps and vision screening programs in rural and underserved areas.
  • Promotes awareness about eye health and prevention of blindness.
Facilities and Infrastructure:
  • Equipped with modern diagnostic tools like slit lamps, fundus cameras, and ultrasonography.
