The Department of Pathology at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, Barpeta, Assam, is a vital part of the institution's academic and healthcare framework. The department has various sections like Hematology, Cytology, Clinical Pathology, Histopathology and Blood centre which provides comprehensive diagnostic services and Blood banking facilities, playing a crucial role in patient care and management. The department is also equipped with crucial diagnostic methodologies like immunohistochemistry and HPLC. Procedures like fine needle aspiration cytology, bone marrow aspiration & biopsy are being done routinely.

The faculty consists of experienced pathologists who are committed to imparting quality education to undergraduate and postgraduate students, shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Through its research activities, the department aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of pathology, ultimately benefiting the community and improving healthcare outcomes. Advanced facilities like genetic analysis and flowcytometry are also available for research purpose in association with the Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU)
